In memory of May

Our beautiful baby daughter May Rose was cared for and died at the TREVOR MANN BABY UNIT in Brighton.

May was was a full term baby and a scan on the morning before she was born, showed all was well.

However due to a severe placenta abrubtion i went into labour and May suffered a lack of oxygen. She was sent immediatly to special baby care and then transferred to Trevor Mann in Brighton.

The various tests that were carried out in intensive care told us that May had severe brain damage. She had a series of convulsions and we were informed that she would never be able to walk, and possibly not be able to talk. This was a terrible shock to us but we knew we just had to face it as extra challenges we would have with May and share together.

But suddenly and without warning May developed pneumonia and other complications and she left us at 6pm on Sunday 19 November 2006.

There is obviously a lot more to Mays story, but we set up the 'May Rose Fund'

because all the staff were so caring and supportive to both May and ourselfs that we wanted to give something back to them. So 'In memory of May' we are trying to raise money to donate to the unit.

If you have any ideas on fundraising events or would like to comment in any way, or would just like to get in touch with us, we would love to hear from you.

A poem written by our friend Helen on hearing that May had died.

Little May

Little May you were beautiful,
you sweet little thing,
your little hands,your little toes,
you made the whole room sing.

Little May you had a button nose,
with lovely auburn hair,
your little fingers were so long,
you sleep on without a care.

Little May you are so brave,
to fight and fight some more,
but all of us are broken now,
with hearts and eyes so sore.

Little May you are asleep now,
but your presence will still be here,
you are wrapped up soft and gently,
but without the pain or fear.

Little May you are not alone sweet,
we will always be by yourside,
you can rest and snuggle down now,
but the hurt we can never hide.

Little May you lived a short short life,
you tried your hardest to stay,
you were born with lots of courage,
and kept strong till your last day.

Little May I'll say goodbye now,
but will see you when I come,
I'll carry you around with me,
and will look out for your Dad and Mum.

Little May you were so precious,
but you came went so fast,
you will always be remembered,
and be loved each day that goes past.

Night night sweetheart xx
